harsh advice on content creation

This advice is yours to follow or not…

I have ran/am running the following pages:

• Betterselfreal

• Themepage.essentials (formally betterself.films)

• Ownthesin

• Betterbytes - YouTube

& I’ve helped run /mentor a few other pages.

I’ve seen some “free” advice which is actually awful,

Do not copy someone else’s video frame for frame / imitate it frame for frame

Especially if you are starting out

By all means - use the same clip from same podcast

But if you do, just recreate their video and they have 100K+ followers.

They are going to take most, if not all, potential reach for that…

To add to that Instagram are banning beginner accounts that straight up copy other creators.

To gain a following - you have to be different.

Even the carousels I am making - despite being similar to @intripidousvision’s carousels

I took his design and tweaked it & made my own wave.

@personamotiv now @prodbypersona inspired my old style of content

But I didn’t copy his videos - I didn’t recreate his videos

You need an aspect of distinction.

Take inspiration, a slice, not the whole cake.

Please, please, please,

Don’t use any corny name,

What do I mean?

“MidasAureliusMotivation” - that is a shit name,

Yes, I know, I have the best name - people have even stole it for other parts of their brands…

But names that are long drawn out and altogether unrelated are less likely to do well.

If you want to use motivation in the name - I had a friend who had the name @hawkmotivation

That is fine - it isn’t drawn out.

Don’t overcomplicate the name is what I’m saying.

If you get to 30-60 videos & you aren’t semi successful (1-2K+)

You need to change your content.

I got to 15K followers on shit content

I got to 220K followers on a brand esq aesthetic

I got to 500K on a different style

I got to 750K on a different style

Don’t be afraid to improve and try new routes

The goal is the goal - that’s locked in but the route to that goal is flexible.
